Masato Ono

Masato Ono, the founder of the bag brand onomasato, was born in Kyoto, Japan in 1980, where superior craftsmanship are alive to restore historical architectures and traditional rites and festivals since the capital relocation in the 8th centuries.

He started his career in the formative art in Seian Art and Design College in Kyoto specialising in metal sculpture, and won honorable prizes represented by the UBE Biennale International Sculpture Competition when he was 22 years old.

Desiring to continue designing and manufacturing by hand, he founded the bag brand onomasato in 2007. Using his style of designing acquired through formative art experience and metal sculpture skills, he creates bags from their frames which makes the bags unique in shape. He also utilises his textile knowledge in developing traditional Jacquard weave into his original crow icon pattern fabric.

He started wholesales to Daimaru department stores in 2009 and supported by 600 domestic customers, opened his own boutique in Kyoto in 2011. Setting his mind to be one of the top bag brands of the world, he started to release his collection in the Premiere Classe in Paris since March 2012.

Shoko Ono

I was born in Fukuoka, Japan in 1978. After graduating Seinan Gakuin University in English Language, I studied in City University in the U.K. in International Business. Aiming to work in multi-cultural environment, I started my career in a global motor company in Tokyo. Decided to marry to Masato and move to Kyoto, I quit the company and joined his bag brand business in 2010.

In July 2011, I established Onoshoko Shoten Limited to manage onomasato as a corporation and grow it up as a worldwide bag brand. As a designer, I take charge of color selection, fashion coordination and web-design. I wish onomasato to have millions of fans all over the world!
